Reunión Anual de Familias 2019

Este fin de semana ha tenido lugar la Reunión Anual de Familias de la Fundación Síndrome de Dravet en Madrid, tras la cual esperamos que hayáis vuelto con las maletas cargadas de mucha ilusión y esperanza, así como con las ganas de volvernos a ver el próximo año.

Reunion Anual de Familias 2019

Este es un fin de semana en el que nos juntamos muchas familias con un objetivo común, encontrar la cura para el síndrome de Dravet.
Los que lleváis más tiempo, os volvéis a encontrar con otras familias con la que habéis forjado una amistad especial a lo largo de los años.
Los que lleváis menos, este encuentro os sirve para encontraros con familias que han o están pasado por la misma situación.
Sea cual sea la situación, es motivo de alegría y satisfacción encontrarte con viejos amigos y conocer nuevas familias.

Comenzamos la apertura junto a D. Juan Carrión, Presidente de la Federación Española de Enfermedades Raras, que nos acompañó en el discurso de apertura hacia las más de 70 familias procedentes de toda España, que incluían desde los que tienen un hijo con poco más de un año, al de un hombre de ya ni más ni menos que 49 años.
Nos emocionamos junto a estas familias, así como con el testimonio de María, quien este año perdió a su hermana de 19 años víctima del maldito Dravet.

También hemos aprovechado para reconocer el esfuerzo de aquellas personas que realmente han marcado (y siguen marcando) la diferencia a favor de nuestros guerreros con síndrome de Dravet. Patxi Villoria, corredor de RetoDravet, fue galardonado, al igual que nuestra delegada regional Pilar Díaz y familia, que todos conocéis por el enorme trabajo que llevan haciendo desde hace ya varios años a favor de la Fundación Síndrome de Dravet.

Y como no, no podía faltar la doctora Charlotte Dravet, a quien hemos tenido la gran oportunidad de haber podido tener con nosotros durante estos días.

La doctora Charlotte Dravet fue la descubridora de esta enfermedad. Fue en definitiva la persona que dio el primer paso hacia la cura del síndrome de Dravet, hace ya más de 40 años, al haberse dado cuenta que aquellos pacientes que estaban diagnosticados con síndrome de Lennox-Gastaut y que ella trataba en el Centro Saint-Paul (hoy Centro Henri Gastaut) de Marsella tenían realmente otro síndrome.
Sin duda alguna, gracias a ella empezó todo.

Durante la jornada, también hemos aprendido de impuestos y cuestiones legales, cubriendo la reducción de jornada por cuidado de menor con enfermedad grave y el patrimonio protegido de las personas con discapacidad.
También proyectamos un vídeo de RCP pediátrica y para adultos, así como un mensaje motivador y de cariño de nuestro escritor Andrés Pascual.

También hemos presentado varias medidas sociales que vamos a tomar, como la puesta en marcha del Fondo de Solidaridad 2019, en el que las familias de la Fundación Síndrome de Dravet podréis optar a ayudas económicas.
Estad atentos porque en breve os enviaremos las bases para aplicar al Fondo de Solidaridad.

Además, en el plano de la investigación, hemos asistido a un encuentro esperanzador.

Hemos recordado como hacía no muchos años no había prácticamente ninguna medicación en marcha y ahora hablamos de cura, la cura del síndrome de Dravet, a la que prácticamente ya casi le ponemos fecha y hora.

Los ensayos clínicos siguen su curso en España, dando muy buenos resultados en cuento a crisis, el síntoma a veces más visible de esta enfermedad, aunque desde luego no el único. En no mucho tiempo, esperamos ver dos nuevas opciones terapéuticas para el síndrome de Dravet en el mercado: fenfluramina y cannabidiol, este último ya aprobado por la Comisión Europea.

Los avances en terapia génica parecen ya imparables.

Desde el CIMA, la investigadora Ana Ricobaraza nos mostró cómo marchan sus pruebas en el laboratorio. Los avances siguen produciéndose y los ratones mejoran su calidad de vida y no les aparecen problemas por ello.

Stoke Therapeutics compartió con nosotros que siguen adelante con su programa de investigación, a través del cual esperan solucionar la cuasa subyacente de muchas enfermedades monogenéticas a través de sus oligonucleótidos antisentido, siendo el síndrome de Dravet su principal foco. En breve esperan enviar la documentación necesaria a la agencia americana del medicamento para empezar ensayos clínicos en pacientes en EEUU en la primera mitad del 2020. Marcaría todo un hito.

Encoded Therapeutics también nos contó cómo marcha su programa de investigación para el síndrome de Dravet. Mientras que para los oligonucleótidos antisentido de Stoke sería necesario una inyección cada 4-6 meses, para Encoded solo sería necesario una única inyección. Una única inyección que curaría el síndrome de Dravet.
Siguen trabajando sin parar y esperan empezar ensayos clínicos en pacientes en 2021. Un sueño que cada vez está más cerca.

Aún tenemos muchos retos por delante, pero también una serie de oportunidades en forma de cura que indudablemente cada vez va siendo más y más tangible.

Seguro que después de este fin de semana tenéis muchas imágenes grabadas. Nosotros, si tuviéramos que elegir solo una, nos quedaríamos con el emotivo momento en el que todos os levantáis espontáneamente mientras seguís aplaudiendo a la doctora Dravet durante la entrega de su Premio Dravet 2019.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Dravet Syndrome Conference 2023 is organised by Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain, whose registered office is located at Calle Doctor Fleming, 30, 28036 Madrid, Spain.

The conference shall take place at the Official College of Nursing of Madrid, at Avenida de Menéndez Pelayo, 93, 28007 Madrid, Spain, on Thursday 23rd of March 2023. Attendance to this conference is free of charge, but mandatory for organisational reasons.

Participants must register online at www.dravetconference.com. Upon registration, each participant will receive an electronic confirmation by email. On-site registration will not be be possible. If a participant has not received the official email registration confirmation within 3 days, they must contact the conference secretariat at [email protected].

The conference registration includes: Attendance to all sessions, oral and visual presentations, all coffee and lunch breaks, and conference documentation with all information about the event. The registration does not include travel and accommodation costs or any other personal expenses.

Admittance to the conference without registration cannot be granted.

Conference Attendance
Upon arrival at the Official College of Nursing of Madrid the day of the event, all participants have to check-in at the onsite Conference Registration Desk. The desk will open on 23rd of March at 8:30 a.m. Upon registration onsite, the conference team will provide participants with information about the event and a badge, which should be worn visibly at all times. The personalised badge authorises participants to attend all conference sessions, and lunch and coffee breaks.

Cancellation Policy
Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain reserves the right to cancel any registration forthwith and without liability on its part in the event of any damage to, or destruction of the venue by fire, shortage of labour, strikes, industrial unrest, public health measures, or any other cause beyond the control of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain, which shall prevent it from performing its obligations. In these circumstances, every effort will be made to find an alternative format/venue or propose a new date for the conference. Should the conference be cancelled for any reason, airfares, hotels, or other costs incurred by the participants are not reimbursed by the Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain.

Any participant is allowed to cancel his/her registration but must notify this to the conference organisers by e-mail at [email protected] within a minimum of 10 days prior the event. Failure to attend the event without prior written notification by email may incur a no-show fee, which shall cover individual organizational, material and catering costs.

Name Change
All registrations are only valid for the respective person mentioned in the form. A registered participant unable to attend the conference may nominate (free of charge) a substitute participant by notifying the conference organisers by email at [email protected] before 16th of March 2023. The procedure allows giving the last name, first name, and email address of the new participant.

Personal Data
Upon registration, the participant authorises Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain to use their personal data stated above to inform the participant of any further conferences, events, or information concerning the conference and Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain’s activities. The conference booklet online will only contain authors, titles, and affiliations of submitted abstracts, but no full abstract texts. The conference printed booklet will contain full abstract texts from all participants. Conference certificates will be sent to the participants as a PDF document upon request at [email protected]. Only the name & affiliation will be stated in the certificate, not the email addresses of the participants.

Information is collected by an automated computer system that manages registrations. Security and confidentiality are guaranteed by state-of-the-art technical tools. However, Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain declines any responsibility concerning data security transmitted through the internet.

Photography
The conference is held in public; therefore, we do not ban participants, exhibitors, partners and other companies from taking photographs of conference activities and participants, and share it via social media. By participating in the conference, you approve that general pictures will be taken and used for our Social Media output, our websites and other communication purposes. You hereby waive any right to oppose, and expressly authorise the organiser to make them available on the Internet or as it may seem fit. Author’s presentation slides shall not be photographed by any conference participant. 

Disclaimer
The conference organiser cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to any property, whatever the cause may be. Should, for any reason outside the organiser’s control (e.g., political or economic circumstances or a case of ‘force majeure’), the venue or speakers change, or the event be cancelled, the organiser will endeavour to reschedule, but shall not be held responsible for any costs, damages or expenses incurred by the participants. Admittance to the workshop without registration cannot be granted.
