Resumen de fármacos en camino (fin de 2019) para familias

Estimadas familias,

En solo unos días estaremos en Navidad y nos gustaría compartir con vosotros, un año más, el resumen de fármacos en camino para el síndrome de Dravet.

Este año 2019 ha sido apasionante en muchos sentidos.

Nuestra fundación ha seguido creciendo en todos los aspectos, el síndrome de Dravet cada vez se conoce más y la investigación sigue imparable.

Durante el año, tuvimos el inmenso honor de recibir el Premio-Epilepsia por parte de la Sociedad Española de Neurología, entidad que representa a los neurólogos españoles. Este no es un premio al que nos hayamos presentado, sino un premio hacia nuestra fundación que surgió a iniciativa de la propia Sociedad Española de Neurología y que supone el reconocimiento a personas y entidades que han realizado actividades de promoción de la Neurología en el ámbito científico, institucional o social.

Todo un honor recibir este premio y el reconocimiento que supone.

En el Día Internacional del Síndrome de Dravet volvimos a iluminar España de morado de La Coruña a Alicante, de Asturias a Santa Cruz de Tenerife, de Guipúzcoa a Almería y así como por gran parte de la geografía española.

Nuestros corredores solidarios de RetoDravet, que no dejan de sumar kilómetros solidarios durante todo el año, se volvieron a unir además el día 23 de junio a nuestros amigos los corredores de MAPOMA, que es la asociación de corredores que organiza Rock ‘n’ Roll Maratón & 1/2 Madrid, que cuenta cada año con alrededor de 40 mil corredores.

También, en el área de la difusión seguimos creciendo mucho, con nuevas y diferentes iniciativas, como los taxis Dravet en Madrid y Benidorm o la cadena de supermercados cuyas bolsas llevan nuestro logo y que además su beneficio es donado a nuestra fundación.

Una vez más, nos pudimos reunir en nuestro encuentro anual de familias, en el que más de 70 familias participaron. Todo un récord de participación sin precedentes en nuestra fundación.

Durante el encuentro pudimos actualizarnos en investigación y en temas legales importantes, como la reducción de jornada y el patrimonio protegido. Además, pudimos escuchar y aprender de las vivencias de María Cabello, cuya hermana falleció el pasado de mes enero. Todo eso con la presencia de la misma doctora Charlotte Dravet, que estuvo con nosotros tanto en nuestras jornadas científicas, en la que contamos con los investigadores y expertos más relevantes en el síndrome de Dravet, como en nuestra reunión anual, en la que compartió su conocimiento, su experiencia y se reunió con nuestros guerreros y sus familias, tanto en el propio encuentro como en la jornada anterior.

Por primera vez, hemos lanzado una iniciativa de ayuda a las familias en forma de subvención, el Fondo de Solidaridad, que continuará en 2020 y a la que os animamos a presentaros. Y también organizamos el primer Respiro de familias en Burgos el pasado mes de marzo, iniciativa que repetimos en 2020 y a la que se han apuntado el triple de familias que en 2019.

Ahora también tenéis a vuestra disposición el protocolo de emergencia específico para el síndrome de Dravet, que os animamos a revisarlo con vuestro neurólogo y llevarlo siempre con vosotros.

Además, hemos actualizado el vídeo corporativo de presentación de la Fundación, para dar difusión al Dravet y al trabajo que realizamos desde la entidad con vuestro apoyo. 

Como podréis leer en el informe de más de 30 páginas, nuestros ratones Dravet siguen dando muy buenos resultados en tanto que está siendo una herramienta esencial en algunos de los programas en desarrollo que están avanzando. A estos ratones Dravet missense hay que sumar ahora un nuevo modelo de ratón, en este caso con una mutación non-sense, que hemos puesto a disposición de la comunidad científica internacional y que ya está en varios centros científicos facilitando y habilitando la investigación en el síndrome de Dravet.

En este año 2019 cannabidiol ha sido aprobado por la Comisión Europea y ya se está trabajando en su llegada a mercado, y fenfluramina va detrás siguiendo los pasos, con una más que probable autorización de comercialización en el primer semestre de este año que entra.

También se ha iniciado un nuevo ensayo clínico en España, del que alguno de vosotros nos habéis comentado que estáis participando. Si entráis en la página de Ovid Therapeutics, la compañía farmacéutica que está llevando a cabo el ensayo de este nuevo medicamento, podréis incluso ver nuestro logotipo como uno de sus colaboradores.

Y aunque no hace mucho lo veíamos como algo lejano e impensable, el 2020 será el año en el que una terapia curativa diseñada para el síndrome de Dravet se prueba por primera vez en pacientes. Un gran paso que nos invitar a soñar a una vida sin Dravet.

En el área de investigación hay muchas más novedades, así que os animamos a leer el informe para familias de fármacos en camino de la Fundación Síndrome de Dravet.

No cabe duda de que todavía tenemos muchos retos por delante, pero también una serie de oportunidades que no vamos a dejar escapar.

Cada vez estamos más cerca y no vamos a parar.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Dravet Syndrome Conference 2023 is organised by Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain, whose registered office is located at Calle Doctor Fleming, 30, 28036 Madrid, Spain.

The conference shall take place at the Official College of Nursing of Madrid, at Avenida de Menéndez Pelayo, 93, 28007 Madrid, Spain, on Thursday 23rd of March 2023. Attendance to this conference is free of charge, but mandatory for organisational reasons.

Participants must register online at www.dravetconference.com. Upon registration, each participant will receive an electronic confirmation by email. On-site registration will not be be possible. If a participant has not received the official email registration confirmation within 3 days, they must contact the conference secretariat at [email protected].

The conference registration includes: Attendance to all sessions, oral and visual presentations, all coffee and lunch breaks, and conference documentation with all information about the event. The registration does not include travel and accommodation costs or any other personal expenses.

Admittance to the conference without registration cannot be granted.

Conference Attendance
Upon arrival at the Official College of Nursing of Madrid the day of the event, all participants have to check-in at the onsite Conference Registration Desk. The desk will open on 23rd of March at 8:30 a.m. Upon registration onsite, the conference team will provide participants with information about the event and a badge, which should be worn visibly at all times. The personalised badge authorises participants to attend all conference sessions, and lunch and coffee breaks.

Cancellation Policy
Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain reserves the right to cancel any registration forthwith and without liability on its part in the event of any damage to, or destruction of the venue by fire, shortage of labour, strikes, industrial unrest, public health measures, or any other cause beyond the control of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain, which shall prevent it from performing its obligations. In these circumstances, every effort will be made to find an alternative format/venue or propose a new date for the conference. Should the conference be cancelled for any reason, airfares, hotels, or other costs incurred by the participants are not reimbursed by the Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain.

Any participant is allowed to cancel his/her registration but must notify this to the conference organisers by e-mail at [email protected] within a minimum of 10 days prior the event. Failure to attend the event without prior written notification by email may incur a no-show fee, which shall cover individual organizational, material and catering costs.

Name Change
All registrations are only valid for the respective person mentioned in the form. A registered participant unable to attend the conference may nominate (free of charge) a substitute participant by notifying the conference organisers by email at [email protected] before 16th of March 2023. The procedure allows giving the last name, first name, and email address of the new participant.

Personal Data
Upon registration, the participant authorises Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain to use their personal data stated above to inform the participant of any further conferences, events, or information concerning the conference and Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain’s activities. The conference booklet online will only contain authors, titles, and affiliations of submitted abstracts, but no full abstract texts. The conference printed booklet will contain full abstract texts from all participants. Conference certificates will be sent to the participants as a PDF document upon request at [email protected]. Only the name & affiliation will be stated in the certificate, not the email addresses of the participants.

Information is collected by an automated computer system that manages registrations. Security and confidentiality are guaranteed by state-of-the-art technical tools. However, Dravet Syndrome Foundation Spain declines any responsibility concerning data security transmitted through the internet.

Photography
The conference is held in public; therefore, we do not ban participants, exhibitors, partners and other companies from taking photographs of conference activities and participants, and share it via social media. By participating in the conference, you approve that general pictures will be taken and used for our Social Media output, our websites and other communication purposes. You hereby waive any right to oppose, and expressly authorise the organiser to make them available on the Internet or as it may seem fit. Author’s presentation slides shall not be photographed by any conference participant. 

Disclaimer
The conference organiser cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to any property, whatever the cause may be. Should, for any reason outside the organiser’s control (e.g., political or economic circumstances or a case of ‘force majeure’), the venue or speakers change, or the event be cancelled, the organiser will endeavour to reschedule, but shall not be held responsible for any costs, damages or expenses incurred by the participants. Admittance to the workshop without registration cannot be granted.
